NSP (Neighborhood Stabilization Program) Status Update (August 2011)

Due to limited funding by the State of Illinois, some contractor work has begun on the 26 houses purchased by the City of Berwyn’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program.  However,  work on the majority of homes has been delayed.  Once state funding become available, contractors who bid on the rehabilitation work will  be able to start working.   After the City receives additional funding from the State, we will post information as to when the NSP properties will be available for purchase under our program.

The Community Development Department was established to formulate and assist in the development of a Consolidated Plan and to administer Community Development Block Grant Programs.

Each year the Community Development Department holds a series of needs assessment hearings at which time the Department will accept and address public comments relative to new projects to be funded, housing and community incentives, economic and development plans with the surrounding communities, and sub-grantee proposals.
