Theodore "Teddy" Polashek is a lifelong Berwyn resident, a graduate of its schools, and the first-generation son of immigrants. He is best known for forming a volunteer "snow patrol" that began by helping elderly and mobility-challenged neighbors and later expanded to shoveling every sidewalk in the 6th Ward during snowfalls. He also launched a corner beautification program, personally funding landscaping projects on neglected block corners.

A career firefighter who worked his way up to the rank of Lieutenant, Teddy developed a deep commitment to public safety. His first-hand experience gives him insight into maintaining a strong and responsive safety infrastructure, an issue often overlooked in other communities.

As 6th Ward Alderman, Teddy works to continue economic development. He is a strong advocate for businesses along Cermak Road and the 16th Street corridor and plans to collaborate with stakeholders to support growth, innovation, and walkability.

He is also an enthusiastic supporter of the upcoming senior and family community center and plans to champion inclusive, high-quality programming. As President of the Czech American Cultural Center, Teddy promotes cultural appreciation through art, dance, music, and youth education.

Outside of public service, Teddy enjoys spending time with his son Teddy Jr.
