New Resident 30-Day Checklist

Please follow the key steps outlined below within 30 days and 3 months of moving in.

WITHIN THE FIRST 30 DAYS:

APPLY FOR BUILDING PERMITS (IF NEEDED)

• Visit the Building Department for guidance and to confirm what home violations, referred to as “compliance” and voluntary upgrades need a permit. Click HERE to view page.

BUY YOUR CITY VEHICLE STICKER

• Must be purchased within 30 days of moving in. 
• Bring your vehicle registration (with Berwyn address) and Driver’s License to Berwyn City Hall (6700 W. 26th Street) 1st Floor, Collector’s Office (cashier’s service windows). 

APPLY FOR PARKING PERMIT (IF NEEDED)

• Municipal Parking, Depot District Parking, Business Reserved Parking and Visitor Passes are available for purchase at Berwyn City Hall (6700 W. 26th Street) 1st Floor, Collector’s Office (cashier’s service windows).

ANIMAL REGISTRATION FORM

• All dogs and cats must be registered per city ordinance. Pet registration forms may be returned with your vehicle registration form, or can be downloaded online by clicking HERE and returning at Berwyn City Hall (6700 W. 26th Street) 1st Floor, Collector’s Office (cashier’s service windows). 

MOVE IN GARBAGE, SEWER & WATER BILL

• After your home sale paperwork is received by the Water Billing Department your garbage, sewer, and water services will be automatically activated by the city - no need to setup an account. You can expect your first bill within 30 days of your home purchase. To download a YARD WASTE application and request online, please click HERE. The YARD WASTE sticker will be mailed to you at no cost. You can also pickup a FREE YARD WASTE sticker at the Berwyn City Hall (6700 W. 26th Street) 1st Floor, Compliance Office service window.

LEARN ABOUT TRASH & RECYCLING SERVICES

• Review the Residential Garbage Pickup
• Schedule FREE bulk or appliance pickup (if needed)
• Learn about the city’s Composting Program
