What is Blight? Blight is used to describe houses and building structures in dangerous or hazardous conditions which affect public safety and/or public health and property values.

The Blight Team proactively works with businesses and residents to address dilapidated property conditions and public safety concerns. By working together we can promote a sense of community pride for a sustainable and healthy community for us all to enjoy!

Important Notice for Commercial Property Owners:

Commercial properties play a vital role in preventing rodent activity and protecting public health throughout the community. The City of Berwyn Municipal Code requires commercial properties to maintain ongoing rodent abatement services performed by a licensed commercial exterminator. Review the Commercial Rodent Prevention Guidelines (PDF) to learn about the City’s requirements, recommended property maintenance practices, and commercial rodent abatement responsibilities.
