The primary responsibility of the Fire Prevention Bureau is to promote fire prevention and awareness through a proactive approach to fire and life-safety. The Bureau is overseen by the Fire Marshal.

Updated Illinois Smoke Alarm Law (2023)

Beginning January 1, 2023, any new smoke alarm installed within a single or multi-family home is required to be an alarm that features a 10-year sealed battery.
